Persons with disabilities are more likely to experience extreme poverty in Nigeria than those without a disability. One of our core mandate as an organization is to support people experiencing some level of difficulty in at least one functional domain such as seeing, hearing, communication, cognition, walking, or self-care to gain valuable skills and capacity for self-sustenance.

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Disability Affairs Board RAKIYA A. Umar and her team paid a visit to our office to seek possible areas of collaboration and partnership. This visit revealed that there exists a school for PLWD in Kakuri, Kafanchan and Soba in Kaduna state. Part of the mandate of the board is to help empower PLWD so that they can be out of the streets and self-reliant. For us as JDPC Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, part of what we do is skill development which purposed the areas for collaboration.
